Too many ips to keep track of
 

I have wireless broadband that I have been using for about a year now on eBay/paypal. I've logged off and on during the year probably 50,000 times??? (Im guessing) with accounts that have been suspended. Should I be worried about keeping track of the IP's (too many)or since ebay/paypal knows its variable do they just ignore them?

you haven't been suspended for ip linking right?

If not it takes more than just your ip to link you to a suspension - you dont have to worry much?

How do you change your ip's - automatic when you connect to the net?

I usually just keep tabs on the past two to three months of IPs. But yes DO keep track of your IP addresses, as this can still link you.

NOID: I dont think the suspensions where from IP addresses, but you never know. I change ID's by logging off then on. The ip changes when you do that.
Apskin: do you use an ip logging program? if so which one? Do they have a good program that always shows the ip address in the taskbar? I looked and couldnt find a good one.

If you have firefox, yes you can install an add on that always shows your ip.

I havent really been keeping track of IP lately. I figure wireless cellular is like dial up. Always changes. And they dont track it. Is that a bad assumption?

It took pp 1 year to link my suspended business account to another account cause of the same ip. This was b4 I was selling on ebay.

That is the only ip i keep track of.

Most phones have cookies as well, so you have to watch that. But the IP address does change often.

Aspkin by wireless cellular I meant an evdo card that plugs into my laptop. isnt the ip address new everytime you log in like dial up? How can ebay/paypal even think about tracking IP's on a wireless network that is constatly changing? I was assuming that they just cant and dont??

Well I change my ip's by dialup. My high speed ip is never changing although my isp says it is "dynamic" but my dialup is not slow and not too fast either so that 1 ip I have to watch is the "dynamic" one. Not Vpn. And it took ebay 1 week to link me to 2 accounts but it took paypal 1 year to link me for those ebay/paypal related accounts. I dont check. I just assume its variable thus different. Ive sat there and checked and compared hundreds of times and it was always different so I dont check anymore. I always clear my cookies no matter what . I dont use a phone , I use my laptop with the wireless card. So should I be comparing my new ip to the old ones? How could I possibly do that with thousands of previous ones?

Last I checked the IP changes each time you connect, so you should be okay. If it were me though, I would still double check the IP address just to verify. Maybe I'm just paranoid.

It's soo easy to keep track of your IP with a spreadsheet I would highly recommend it. You can track which ip for each user name and mac address.. it's really the safest route to go, it keeps things organized so you can run multiple ebay id's at the same time without the worry of ip linking and cookie linking and all that

What about VPN's with its own IP? Ive heard bad things about doing that. Is it smart?
