Virgin hub / change ip for ebay
 

Hi all I have a virgin hub 3.0 using Virgin broadband (cabel internet) problem is no matter what I do the IP stays the same and I have read that I can put it into modem mode and connect a modem to it and I have done this and connected a Sky Broadband modem to it but cannot get anything to work I am pulling my hair out as I cannot use eBay etc untill I have sorted this out pppllllease can someone help 😁 thanks

Sounds like the IP is static...you sure its a dynamic IP?

Until you find a fix, I'd recommend you considering mobile data dongles, or VPN (see my signature link below).

Use one of those at least until you figure out how to get your IP to change.

Chimera might be right (but I've never come across UK ISPs dishing out static IPs, at least not on standard services). Hopefully someone else with Virgin Media can chime in.

A Sky modem would be a VDSL modem its not going to work.

You need a Cable router such as a Netgear or an Asus and then put the Super Hub 3 into modem mode then connect the Cable routers Wan port to the first port on the Super Hub 3.

Once done reboot the Super Hub 3 and you will get a New IP and if you need to change it again login to the Cable router you bought and change the MAC address then reboot both together and your IP will change again.

Thanks guys, I must say I'm not technical but I will buy a new cable router and try what you said. Thank you to everyone so far for your help ��

update - bought the Netgear and tried several times but loose internet. I have tried different ways and turned both off thenon again. anybody else had this issue? thanks
