New USPS rules Jan 1
 

With the new rules going into effect January 1 about zoned first class with tracking how is that going to affect stealth when you ship from a "different" zone than what you have listed on ebay or paypal? Looks like we will have to change our ship from to the area we are actually shipping from. USPS told me from Florida to California gong up to $4.10 from $3.50

It's not all that hard to use a different zip code near you for all your accounts, then switch to calculated shipping on your listings, and have eBay calculate the correct new zone price for you.

Something tells me a lot of sellers will either stop offering free 1st Class shipping on small items, or increase their price to reflect the most expensive zone they would have to ship to.

I haven't really decided how I'm going to handle it yet. We ship 80% First Class and offer free shipping across the board now.

With the algo favoring free shipping, I'm guessing sellers will put the cost into the price of item I think.

Hardly cost effective for $10 items that ship First Class though.

I'll probably leave some of my listings with First Class shipping, and experiment with free Priority shipping via Flat Rate Envelopes on another. eBay has been trying to tell me for years my listings can do better if I offer free Priority shipping on little things. I guess it's time to give it a try.

Items listed with shipping separate sell more than the same item listed with shipping free/included. May be the way to go. We'll see.

I think it's because the buyer sees the item in search selling for $10, then goes to the listing and sees the $3 shipping but buys it. Same item listed for $13 sells less because $13 is 'more expensive' then $10, even though at checkout they're both $13.

Search is kinda effed too. It's like those dropshippers listing stuff for $15 with $40 shipping. That item is first in search when sorting by lowest price followed by something listed for $20 with free shipping.

I've been on eBay for years and that was literally the first time I've heard a seller say listings do better without free shipping.

It probably depends on the category...hence, the buyer-type!

One main competitor does it a lot. Idk how they don't get taken down. Lists the same item twice GTC BIN, one with free shipping, one w/o, same price. All the ones without free shipping have more units sold per month. People are weird.

I did a test on a competitors product, I listed at same price free shipping and also 3.49 less with 3.49 shipping and the lower price without shipping outsold the free shipping one three to one.

Dunno where they get off telling sellers it's better. May be remnant of before the transition from charging fees on final sale price to final sale and shipping and handling costs.

are all the first class rates going up? or only certain weights?
