Do you change the computer name each time you log in?

Just like most of you, I use different user accounts for each individual ebay a/c. However, I've also been changing the computer name and description under 'system' - which requires shutting down the computer each time.

Just wondering if people think it's really necessary to change the computer name each time, or will just changing the user name suffice?

No need to do this. they do not read or monitor that part.

bluemoon is exactly right. This is not anything you have to worry about with ebay.

it is a good idea to change computer name actually, call it something like gateway, I wouldnt keep doing it though each time I change ip and accounts, just change it to something permanant and non-descript. Does anyone know the default setting that would be a good one to use..

another question, i'm going to post generic pictures on one my stealth auction. should i upload the pics from my computer to a service like photobucket, then post the pictures from photobucket to ebay?

Vicvelcro 08-11-2009 04:49 PM

Strip the exif, just a reminder.

Upload to a host (try to find one that isn't mainstream). Personally, I don't use photobucket. I go for hosting that is more obscure.

Copy the links to the photos into notepad. Go to TinyURL.com - shorten that long URL into a tiny URL and turn those photo links into short URLs. Use the short URLs in your item listing.

Click them. See what's what. The ultimate destination file is the same. The middleman doesn't know from sniffing your listing html.

Means their end doesn't know exactly where your images are and it's easier to work with for design and layout.
