Can Ebay track me Via iphone Ebay App ?
 

I was wondering if ebay have put any tracking cookies or files on the iphone ebay App to track people? As I've used it on a previous account that got suspended. I know about IP address but I've changed all that.

Each iphone/ipod touch has a unique id that can be accessed by the ebay app, therefore you can be linked.

Sorry to ask you this but how do you know this?

I have read the iphone developer material, if connect your iphone and go into itunes you can see your own devices serial number, this number is accessible by 3rd party applications though an API, I don't know but its fairly likely ebay would store this API to detect multiple accounts.

I am not agree with this as I am using iphone PDA conect aplication to use O2 internet on my PC.

Every time I disconect O2 internet in my iPhone I get new IP and I am using 3 ebay stealth account on iPhone O2 internet and no problem at all. All there account are seprate and they are not linked.

Ebay use flash cookies and flash cookies only store information from the company which creates these cookies in your computer for eg:

if ebay made the flash cookie then this cookie will only save your ebay id, your most searched item, your last login ip address, flash cookies are not that much power full to access your computer unique serial number even.

These cookies only track information that you enter to the site cookie belong to for example if you seach too many iphone in ebay next time you login to ebay , ebay will show you on there login screen automaticalling cheap iphone in post papular search items etc

Can any body explain to me more as I am little concern about it as I am using iphone internet on my system via PDA conect so will ebay trap me ??

I am not sure about the API but one thing I am 100% sure ebay flash cookies can't access the APIs as flash cookies can't make system level calls for APIs. also if such the case they should have develop the same system for computer system but as far as I know ebay only cares IP address and the information you gave to ebay and paypal even do nothing with MAC address so how come they care about iPhone unique address ??

The eBay app will be able to access the API for the serial number, it cant be done on computers because they dont have a unique "serial number" thats accessible to websites. I really would advise not using the ebay app for more than one account, you might want to do it but its risky.

This thread is a bit outdated but i would like to add that computers DO have unique serial numbers in their CPU. Some computers do not have this but it started way back with Pentium 4.

Another problem there might be is the Itunes account that the app is purchased from. I have been running a stealth using a banned itunes email, the account has been fine but recently got limited. However my limitation did not have anything to do with linked accounts so I actually think its ok.

On another note, I also linked the Paypal Iphone app...and bam up came my real name on my stealth account (profile page, linked devices.....linked phone - Myname's phone). I deleted it straight off and it didn't cause an instant limitation.

I have been put on ice past few days but I sell vero so think thats more to do with it.
