Main pc broke, wish to use another pc - will I get flagged?

Greetings from NY,

Sadly, my main PC that I've been running a Stealth acct. (280+ FB, PS, Top Seller status) broke. It's an older model Sony and I am pretty sure it's the power supply. But because it's one of those "ALL in ONE" units, replacing the power supply will be a real b*tch. Since I don't want to waste valuable time I was wondering if I can use an older pc.

Facts:
  • I don't sell VERO.
  • This older pc I wish to use is a pc I had 2 accounts suspended.
  • I have not reformatted the hard drive.
  • I have created a new user id (Windows XP) under the same user name I used for the Sony PC.
  • When I was using the Sony, I used FireFox and had my settings to clear all cookies.
Questions:
  • If I sign into my ebay/PP accounts with the new pc, will I get flagged/linked or a request for verification?
  • I am still able to turn on the Sony, but I know it will die soon. Are there any files I could transfer to the new PC to fool ebay into thinking that it's the same PC? I know I cleared cookies, but I wasn't sure if there are other files which may still reside in my Sony that might help me with this.
  • Are there any other potential problems I may have doing this?
As always, thanks in advance for any help and pls feel free to ask any questions.

Are you using Firefox or Internet Explorer?

TermedPS 03-11-2010 06:12 PM

I used Firefox

philly387 03-11-2010 07:45 PM

There is a profile that firefox uses. It is in C:>Users>USER NAME>App Data>Local>Mozilla>Firefox>profile name

copy that folder onto a disk or something and put it in the same spot on your new computer. Just copy everything in that folder into the profile for firefox on the new computer.

Actually, just found this... https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2109

philly,

Well it worked! I did use the FF add-on (I always cleared cookies, so I didn't see any any ebay or PP cookies) to transfer all previous files. I was able to login without a problem to both ebay and PP without any verification or "unrecognized pc" notifications. Also listed a few products last night to see if I'll have any issues and as of this morning, all are up any and I have no mail from either ebay or PP.

So thanks a lot for the help and have a great day!

As long as you are using different IP addresses for each account you are fine. Never login to 2 of the accounts with the same IP.

Good:

Account 1: 92.122.14.142
Account 2: 92.122.14.111
Account 3: 92.122.14.132

Then log back into

Account 1: 92.122.14.128
Account 2: 92.122.14.111 (Same as above Account 2, as long as its the same addy you are fine)
Account 3: 92.122.14.98

BAD:

Account 1: 92.122.14.142
Account 2: 92.122.14.111
Account 3: 92.122.14.142

Hope that helps explain things...

You also want to check the threads for changing ip's on dsl. Do a search on the subject and you will find other useful info.

If you are juggling multiple accts on 1 pc, make sure that you keep good records. It's so easy to mess up and accidentally use the same ip address. You can track them through a spreadsheet (as the # of addys increase, do a "data sort" to check so you don't get overwhelmed looking for an ip match - I actually like to use different excel sheets for each acct so I don't get lost which addys I've used for which acct). If you prefer, you can also use any word processor and use the "find" function for the matching ip addys.

Finally, always a good idea not listing same products, listing design, fonts, etc, etc, for those accts. As the ip addys will most likely be close, it's important to use the accts in a "varied" manner so as not to raise any flags that it's the same user.

good luck!

Thanks! I think is static because i can not change the addy ip (i think is the one that shows in network connection 'cause # are like the example u showed me), only change the one that shows in ipchiken.
One more thing cell phones and accesories are VERO or not. Even if u buy them from a famous store)
Thanks

philly387 03-16-2010 09:03 PM

It depends on the company that makes the accessories. There are companies on ebay that participate in VERO that make cell phone accessories, but there are some companies that make cell phone accessories and are not part of the VERO program.

aleyalan 03-16-2010 11:02 PM

How do i know that? for example verizon

We are getting a little off topic, please open a new thread if you want to continue the convo...

Did you get it figured out TermedPS?

TermedPS 03-18-2010 07:50 AM

Yep, all good here.

You really have to keep track if you have a dynamic ip. I've had atleast 15-20 ip's repeat, but I always keep a track of them on an excel sheet. I change ip's daily and I have a huge log! On my excel sheet it goes all the way down to 100. All you have to do it press ctrl + f and search the new ip. If it is not a repeat, I put it on my log for the account I am using.
