PayPal/Amazon using linux

I new to this forum and before I go around asking questions I thought I would share a little bit first.

This should be easy for anyone familiar with linux. Otherwise there are many tutorials out there. The Ubuntu version of linux is probably the most user friendly. Here is a link on setting up a Ubuntu desktop.
The Perfect Desktop - Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) | HowtoForge - Linux Howtos and Tutorials

We all leave a virtual fingerprint with our computer that goes beyond cookies and temporary internet files. Websites we visit are able to distinguish us based on out operating system, the many plugins that are attached to our browser, and a variety of other things that make each computer unique. Anyone concerned with Ebay/Paypal/Amazon tracking and linking your computer to other accounts can run a program called Virtualbox on linux. With Virtualbox you are able to set up a virtual version of Windows and you can set up as many OS's as you want. Now we are able to use a fresh Windows installation for each account, and each account will have a unique fingerprint attached to the computer accessing it. Having each account on a different OS also help me organize each account.

Now that we basically have a unique computer for every account, the only thing we have to worry about is the ip address. This is another nice aspect of linux, it is very easy to change your mac address which is useful getting a new ip address assigned.

This may be time consuming for someone unfamiliar with linux, but it is a sure fire way to have a truly stealth account.

Hope this helps someone.

LINUX. Every home should have a LINUX OS. Tis a sound choice.:thumb:
Takes a bit to 'learn' but once you grasp it, pretty cool. Linux and AppleMac are aces :thumb: Two systems to complement each other for users that might have more than one computer.

I used to have Ubuntu Linux on my last computer mainly for the 3 dimensional desktop and Gimp but I had no idea it had virtual box, I'm gonna have to download it again.

I might have to consider this if ebay is truly tracking by MAC address I guess...
No complaints at all so far..

"EBay", doesn't track your MAC address.

I had a feeling they didn't was just worried when 1 or 2 users reported a possibility. :amen:

Ebay doesn't track your MAC address because they can't. The MAC address is used for communication between devices. By the time the information gets to the website the MAC of the previous device is attached and your MAC address is long gone. They would have to do a lot of backtracking to find the original MAC.

The only reason I brought up the MAC address is because it's probably the easiest way to change your ip address.

So if they can't track your mac then you would think using different windows user's would have the effect as virtual box?

Interesting, but with latest updates turned on, don't most of us have the same version of XP/ 7 and Firefox etc?

If ones assumes that Mac address can be read, how does virtual box or Virtual PC conceal MAC address which is read from your Ethernet router? What is the point?

Does anybody knows what it mean the first 4 number of your ip? From my personal experience , I think identify you as the owner of that particular computer. Whenever you change your ip the last number of your ip are the one's actually changed but the first one never change at all.
What do you guys think about these?

THANK YOU
