Can ebay view/snoop emails with new email system?
 

So recently, all questions I get from ebay users are replyable to - yet they are all changed to some goofy ebay address, and they forward it. Used to be that you either got UseTheYellowButton, or it went to their real email address.

Now, it ALWAYS goes through ebay.

Anyone know if they log/monitor it?

I sell an item that can be physical, or electronic. It's against ebay ToS to deliver it electronically... but many people WANT it - and about once a day I get a "can you email it to me I need it now?" question.

I used to just reply "yes" but now that it goes through ebay, I'm afraid they are watching it.

Does anyone have any definitive answer to this? I'd hate to lose sales by not replying, but I'd hate to lose my account again by saying "yes" and having ebay nail me.

I KNOW they monitor ebay-sent messages. Its how I lost my old account. Phone rep told me "We know you're emailing them - the messages you sent via my ebay state it right there."

Just looking for a way to sell and not be harassed by those assholes.

Yes, they can see it.
They don't allow you to see their email address anymore.

Can users ever learn to use the SEARCH facility here? :spy:

Figured. Sucks. Losing a lot of sales by not being able to answer... and if to each I reply "Email me at..." that's gonna look fishy.

Ebay actually shut down a few of my auctions a few months ago because they said 'Ways to earn free shipping too, just ask, nothing is impossible!'

They said that I probably meant that they could have the item emailed, so they shut them down just in case.

Wow, really? Guilty because it might have possibly been that? Thats just insane...

So, I cannot have ANY appearance of looking like I'm emailing them.

I just love when I get positive feedback of "Emailed me them instantly! Thanks!" HEY! SHUT UP! I asked you not to say that!! ;)

I did search. Every thread I saw was from like 2009 regarding them monitoring My Ebay messages, NOT emails with the new format that only came around within the last month or two.

Simply put:

When you click to reply to the message in question, the reply goes to the ebay message box for the recipient. eBay bots run rampant in everyone's messages. Thus, your reply gets sniffed very thoroughly before the recipient even sees it appear in their inbox.

Simply put...log into ebay to answer messages. Only if you have the other person's e-mail address, do you bother replying directly. No shortcuts, no nothing. Search is friend.
