I.P. Address/ Dual DSL Modem Question ???
 

Hey_
Anyone know the answer to this?

a.) I have DSL Verizon setup on 1 of my pcs
b.) I gotta use a Router- to get the Signal for my Wireless Laptop to pick it up
c.) I have several DSL Modems on hand
d.) Can i take another DSL modem, and hook it directly to my laptop upstairs, so that i can get a seperate i.p. up there?
e.) Also to be able to do the modem to pc connection that changes your ip at will?
---- When i googled this- most said NO. to dual modem setup
---- But, I also had a few said yes, but with some tweeking..

I think you could but you would have to call your service provider to get another ip, at least thats how it is for me. Why not just take your laptop and hook directly to the dsl modem (after unhooking the router) and then you should get a new ip each time.

HI- Thanks, I can do, but then I would have to carry the dsl modem up + down the stairs when wanting to connect. I keep the desk top at my desk in the dining room, the laptop in my bedroom.
+ i just got the new linksys n plus router.

gotcha. I was thinking of doing the same thing your thinking but I think I would have to pay extra for the extra ip....I am going to look into the whole thing.
