Fast Dial Up Options

Are there any fast dial up options because AOL literally takes five minutes to load one page.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Copper.net works OK....

If you are new to AOL, give it a chance to get all the pages you normally visit cached. That will help.

But, at the end of the day, it is dial-up. The web used to be optimized for slower connections, but it no longer is since most people are on broadband.

Thank you for the response, Jeff.

I hear People PC is good as well. What do you think about it?

I've been using AOL for more than six months and it's to slow and gives to many problems.

I've never used People PC so I cannot comment on them. I have not used AOL for many, many, MANY years! I only use dial-up for some stealth accounts.

VPS my friends...VPS!

Fastfreedial up takes just a few minutes to set up and anyone can use it as long as there is a local access number. You have to manually know how to configure it in the Networking panel or if I remember windows correctly, you go to Internet options to type the number in manually then type dial up account, something general or whatever you want to call it

I think this non-profit organization offers numbers all over the US. Don't put in a password, it is not needed. Once in a while it can be real slow but so far so good

Holymoly I don't exactly know what a VPS is.

Melissa, could you please provide a URL. I google search gives a lot of choices.

Thank you everybody.

Also has anybody used dial up with comcast voice?

For me dial isn't even an option, perhaps as last resort.

VPS is a good way to go, you can abuse some company's free trials for a while too.

Dial up can only be so fast. The problem is with the web pages. They are not light anymore. Even 5 or 6 years ago you could get by ok with dial up not too bad. Now they are just so heavy in size and graphics that dial up is painful

But the important thing to remember is that fast dial up is a myth. It can only be so fast. And it will still load those heavy pages forever

i think dial up still has some use but it all depends on how you use the service. if you plan to use dial up to bid, sell, or post items then of course it's going take a considerable time. as files gets bigger and bigger dial up speed will keep gettin slower. now, if you're using dial up to gain access to suspended account while waiting for the 180 day to be lifted on pp, then this isn't a bad choice. do remember that there are free dialup service out there.

By free do you mean you pay nothing whatsoever?. The Dialup i've always used in the uk has an 0845 prefix which is a local rate call, but is not free, unless you are on a special package.
