| | | motorpsychoz | 01-13-2011 09:15 PM | road runner cable internet service questions Hi,
Just read the stealth book and was getting ready to go and buy my routers. I went there and the guys there gave me like 2 different answers which confused the hell out of me. So i would like to ask you guys.
1. I have road runner cable. I called them and they said i have a dymanic ip. But when i talked to my friend who knows about these things, he said its all up to the service provider if the IP will change even after you buy routers. Is this true? i was going to go and buy 5 of them but i heard this. Any help on this would be greatly appricated.
2. Is autivia a good site to list things with ebay if your using a stealth account and if your going to accept paypal?
Once again thank you for your time and its greatly appreicated. |
Hi sure road runner is dynamic all you need is one router and do a search on how to change ip usually all you do is login to your router and change the mac address and your ip will change check ipburger.com to make sure it changes rinse and repeat. Auctiva is good but I personally use Inkfrog once again do a forum search on both because there are certain stealth ways to attach the account. |
| motorpsychoz | 01-13-2011 10:11 PM | ok so if i bought 5 routers, then all i have to do is swap them out each and everytime i log in right? Thanks! |
Sure thang but that would maybe only give you 5 different ips you would have to check. |
| motorpsychoz | 01-13-2011 10:34 PM | so what if i have 5 user accounts and i assign one router to one account? I will lable the routers with the user names of my stealth accounts and everytime i'm going to log into that account i know exactly which router to use. Does this make sense? |
It sure does you got a good plan but like i said use a website to check your ip and make sure it changes and you should be good to go keep track good luck! |
| motorpsychoz | 01-14-2011 03:12 AM | ok so i got it then right? Thanks for your help and are you sure that the plan discussed here is 100% right? Thanks again man. |
It's good to go I'm far from a newbie your welcome and like I said just make sure you check as you go... good luck! |
| lakeman | 01-14-2011 10:21 PM | Yeah it's a good plan. I would first try unplugging/replugging your router and modem, then check for ip change. Shouldn't need to buy 5 routers. |

Once again thank you for your time and its greatly appreciated. | I have road runner as well and was going to do what you did.
Did it work??
I called time warner cable(road runner) three times and got three different answers , one said your idea would work
another said that ebay would still be able to see the computers "physical address" nop matter what and the third person said that changing the mac address of the modem itself is all that would work
any help from any one is greatly appreciated/. |
| motorpsychoz | 01-20-2011 12:26 AM | So does it work? I still didnt get them yet. Probably going to try tomorrow. If it changes the IP then we should be good to go right? |
| dannyboy11 | 01-20-2011 01:15 AM | I havent done anything, I was asking you if it worked.....I thought you said you bought new routers? |
| motorpsychoz | 01-21-2011 03:43 AM | Yeah i was going to go and buy them and i got one today just to see if it works. I'm going to try it tomorrow and i'll let you know. thanks! |
| dannyboy11 | 01-22-2011 02:01 AM | Ive called Time Warner cable(road runner) and talked to three different people and got three different answers. Like the guy that posted earlier said, if you do use the router and you check you IP adddress with iplookup.com or similar sight, and the IP is different, then you know it worked.
let me know, Im going to do the same thing if it works/ |
| motorpsychoz | 01-22-2011 03:45 AM | Yup i'm going to try it in the morning. Didn't have a chance to get to it today but i will for sure tomorrow. I'll let you know so check back |
| motorpsychoz | 01-25-2011 12:57 AM | ok heres the update, i tried to router swap and the modem reset and i had to luck. What i had to do was get s linksys router and then go into the set up and then release the current ip and then issue a renew ip. After i did that it worked. One question tho. Why is it that my upstairs computer and the downstairs computer both have different ips? Shouldn't it all be the same? So in this one you only need one router which makes it better because you can just release and renew your ip anytime you want. |
| dannyboy11 | 01-26-2011 06:25 PM | You no longer have the original IP ? How about whenyou just connect directly to the compuert from the modem and not any router?
So did you have to call Road runner or anything? Also I heard that you dontwant to use a bunch of different IPs to log into the same account...too many ips can trigger ebay's MC notifications |
| motorpsychoz | 01-27-2011 08:51 PM | where did you see if you log into too many ebay accounts from different ips thats its bad. I dont think it is. |
| Sandy D | 02-10-2011 03:47 AM | I have rr and swapped a bad modem and ended up with the same IP.
I then changed it again and waited 24 hours and still the same IP.
I called them and asked if they would change my IP and they said no.
Other here might know a way around the RR constant IP issue but I have tried the swapping and unplugging etc many times and it never changes.
I had to add dailup so I can be at home instead of in the car answering a ton of daily questions from buyers from different wi-fi locations |
| motorpsychoz | 02-10-2011 04:52 AM | Ok heres the deal. If you get this router i think its the linksys http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Linksys-WRT5...item27b56bb4b9
ONly 39 dollars total. With this router its super easy to get the same ips any time you want. I can change it so that i get the same ip anytime i want. So i assign a IP to a user name and it works perfectly since ebay thinks i'm using the same ip for the right account.
In the set up part of the router disc, all you have to do is access the router set up page and then where it states to clone the mac address go there and change the last two numbers. Dont clone anything just change the last two numbers on the mac address. After you do that, all you have to do is release dchp and renew dchp ( think thats what its called) and thats it. You will get the same ips everytime you put the same two digits on the mac address. Let me know how it works for you. Not sure if RR is liking it or not but havent heard anything from them. I have RR and it works perfectly and trust me i aint no pro |
| pinkmilk | 02-11-2011 09:52 PM | (jumping in here...sorry)
I too have Road Runner cable with a Netgear router, so then changing the last two on the MAC won't do it? I should go and get a linksys router instead? I haven't tried to change the netgear MAC yet, attempting it on Monday. I guess I will find out if it works. |
| motorpsychoz | 02-12-2011 03:16 AM | Yes i can assist you really easily if you have the same router that i have. I had another one that also didnt work and a buddy of mines told me this one would work for sure and it sure did. The router is only 35.00 or so which is nothing to get the EXACT same ip for any account that you want. So i just assigned a set of ips for all my different accounts so ebay thinks that everythings good. This is really the best way. I just went on ebay for the first time in months and it feels great. Kind of scrary tho if you dont know what your doing but when everything goes well, its really nice.
and yes to answer your question it may work with your netgear. Just change the last two like 9d or 9c or 6a or wqhatever you wanted to and then reset the modem. You will also have to release the dchp and then renew it and it should work just like that. |
| pinkmilk | 02-12-2011 01:19 PM | That is amazing MotorP! I am knocked out!
ips for each account off the same router by going into the MAC each time you want a specific ip relating to a specific account by changing the last two characters and doing reset?
For example (names and numbers are fictional here):
If your router's original MAC last two are say 9a, and you had just set up an account (lets call this new account Mr. Wilson), changing the MAC from 9a to perhaps 6b the ip changes, and you only ever use that 6b for when you want the ip for account "Mr. Wilson"
For yet another account you would repeat the process for lets say "Mr. Jones" you might change the MAC this time to 6c thus getting yet another ip, and so on?
Unplugging and resetting releasing dchp each time?
I apologize to the board veterans who are seeing this same conversation for the 100th time but for me this all is a major big deal. Thanks for your patience.

pinkmilk ~ :) | YEs that is correct. Everytime you input the same last two on the mac address and release and renew dchp, you will get the same ip that the last two digits got you. So i assign Mr wilson to 9d, and then mr thompson to 9b, and Mr johson to 6d. I then input it on my spread sheet so i know exactly which last two numbers is for which account and then change user and sign on the ebay!!! Simple as that and ebay loves it because its from the same IP everytime!!! Hope this helps. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 04:49 AM. | |
