I wanted to let everybody know that if your looking for an alternative to dial up and still want to get different ips on each start up then I suggest getting the verizon mifi 2200 device.
It gives you a new ip address on every time you turn it on or off.
The cheapest plan they have is for $35 plus tax for 3GB of data usage a month.
Right now they have the mifi device for free at verizon.
Only use the device by plugging in the device to the computer via usb.

You can use the Mifi 2200 to connect up to 5 devices as well, using SPRINTS 3G SPEEDS,and no contract is needed. Here is the direct link to their website with all of the details:
Yes, it's with a contract, but it's worth it since your getting the device for free and getting a lower monthly rate. I like verizon because they have more IPs in their pool. Virgin which runs on Sprint does not have a lot of IPs.
I only recommend the mifi from verizon and it works. The phone tethering I can't speak for because I've never done it, but I did read that others on the forum are doing it.
I am now running an account with Mifi, from Verizon. Works great so far, speed is good and worth the 50.00 a month. Thanks for the advice about using usb to hookup.
i once used tethering through my phone, but this is much faster...thanks to all...
yeah works great I highly recommend. ....You cant hook up using USB port, because then the device is only charging. Depending on location, you may only receive 3 G speeds, but I live in the boonies...

Hello, I noticed a few of you are using the Mifi from Verizon. I just purchased one a few days ago and realized that when using IP burger, the IP is located in a different state then where I live (Florida). Isn't that similar to proxy? anyone have problems with that or is it okay to use?
Thanks!

You should be good to use it. Currently my ip is showing in Kansas and I am in Idaho, and have never had any problems logging into eBay or paypal.
You guys will all be OK. Cell phone data networks almost never show up as registered to your local area as the IP addresses are completely dynamic. Only fixed broadband reflects actual locations, and not all the time, either. The only time I'd be worried is if your IP showed up as out of your registered country.

How about the MAC address? I have heard that changing the ip address is not enough - that eBay tracks you by the MAC addresses of your devices (router, NIC card, etc). Is that is the case, then just changing my ip addresses won't be enough. Does anyone know if this MiFI device will transmit the MAC address of any of the devices installed in my PC?
