Cant change my ip, any suggestions??
 

Hello all,

I have tried and tried to change my ip with no luck, I doubt it is static because it is thru HTC. I just have this funky set up.

I have an SMC cable modem that is also a wireless router I connect it to my sprint airave which is basically a mini cell tower giving me service thru voip then I have my belkin wireless router connected to it.

I can not log onto my cable modem cause they suck and I guess scared customers will log onto them and cause problems. I cant even get it to accept my xbox or playstation.

I cant log onto the sprint airave. I can log onto my belkin and have done so and followed the instructions to change the mac id............but when I reset it I always have the same ip. I tried disconnecting it and connecting straight to my cable modem but nope I get the same ip same if I connect straight to the airave.

I have not unplugged everything and waited all night, I am going to do that tonight but I am hoping someone might have a suggestion.

You have two routers.. and one mini cell tower in the mix?

A lot of those modem/router combos come with a static IP address. Try unplugging over night and maybe you'll get a new IP in the morning. If that doesn't work, most likely you are assigned a static IP.. call up your provider and find out.

Think about investing in a wifi (broadband) card.. they're much easier to deal with. That or dial-up. :thumb:

will do, thanks!! I have it figured out though, 6 months of having the samsung epic and i had no idea they had free tethering............go figure.

Sounds like you are busy with multiple things - if you can stand the long wait, go for dial-up otherwise as Aspkin suggested, other =)
