ip address question
 

Just wanted to know when you go to ipburger if the address that pops up as soon as you go there is your own ip address? I am just confused because when I go into my computer and do an ipconfig it is different.
Just trying to follow the book step by step but am not very savy on the computer.

I think the ip config gives you your computer ip, while whois, etc gives you the modem ip address. The modem ip is what ebay/paypal sees.

random_user is correct. Ipconfig shows internal ip. Ipburger.com shows external ip and it's the one ebay/pp sees.

Running ipconfig or ipconfig /all will show you your internal network information. The best way that I have found to get a new IP address for eB is to change the MAC address of your router, reset your modem, and you have a new IP... Works great.
