What's the best dynamic IP for someone on the go?
 

I'm going to be travelling a lot over the next couple of months, staying in hotels LA. Wi fi is one thing but I'm guessing I won't be able to change the IP at the hotspots as easily as I can change it at home with my router.

So I need to be able to access the internet and change my IP while I'm at different places. Is mobile broadband my only option for this? I tried it once and didn't like it because a little usage worked out very expensive, what's the cheapest and how long can it last me? Are there any other options or can I change the IP of the hotspots?

Ok I am sure other people will chime in later since I am nowhere near expert on this but it would seem that you should get a mobile usb stick with a data plan. That way you get your own IP.

Is that the only option? What's the cheapest? Any way to change IP on hotspots?

you can try and find a cricket or metro PCS around your city, they havea 3g USB thing that changes the IP every time you disconnect for some hours, or maybe try phone tethering with your smart phone if you have one. Cricket or Metro PCS also sell smart phones for cheap and their plans start at $55 for the unlimited plan. phone is $99 after mail in rebate.

Clear has a 4g USB thing but the IP address does not change on that, the one that changes with Clear is their 4g my spot thing. A small black box that up to 5 users can use. You can rent one for some months and their rates are around $40 per month. its fast but it tends to overheat when you download lots of stuff.

*Note, the Clear services are not available in every city yet, but they are available in most large cities. They will get more cities covered with some time.
