IP Address Location Question
 

I currently have a cable modem for my home computer. I am not that computer savvy so I am not sure if it uses a router or what so I am going to contact my internet provider Comcast and ask them to change the IP address. I just finished reading eBay Stealth and had a question. It said to make sure to use a new address that isnt too far away because eBay would be able to catch that with your IP address. How far away can you put your new address? Does it have to be in the same town? surrounding towns or anywhere in the state? Not too good with computers on this end so any help would be great.

If its in the same state or a surrounding state you should be fine. Like if your in Indiana and the ip is in Ohio. Goto whatismyipaddress.com and they will show you where you are on the map..

If you're using your modem from your ISP you don't have to worry about location with your IP. It'll be local.

But if you're going VPN, or proxy you'll have to make sure it's at least within 100 miles from your location. Dial up is okay though.

Just make sure your IP is within 100 or so miles from the address you have listed on eBay and you're okay.
