Alternative To Multi Windows Users?

Hey guys,

Rather than creating separate windows users, wouldn't it also be safe to use a program like Sandboxie - Sandbox software for application isolation and secure Web browsing to run your browser?

I've used this program for years. Running a Sandboxed version of Firefox basically quarantines/silos everything off into one specified folder on your pc.

When you're done, delete the sandbox and it nukes that folder along with everything Firefox/Adobe flash put on your HD during that session. Your computer returns to the state before you ran the Sandboxed Firefox session as if you never launched it.

You could also create separate Firefox sandboxes for each account (named after your accounts) completely silo-ed off from each other with separate adobe flash/temp/cache/cookie folders for each.

What do you think?

Current and working set up is aimed at the broader range of users who easily follow the simplicity of the arrangement.

aspkin has determined a successfully working method.

It aint broke so it dont need fixing :peace:

GB is right....
Plus you could use a portable version of firefox, or even a live CD
the point is that the cookies are useful if do it right.

I know there is no reason to reinvent the wheel, I just wanted to know if any other tech savy members were familiar with the software. As I said, I've been using it for years and it basically allows you to do the same thing without leaving your main desktop. It's also pretty small @ <500K.

You can keep cookies/flash objects for each walled off version of Firefox to make eb/pp feel nice and comfy even with random IPs & without any cross contamination. You can also have different individual browser settings (ex. 1 saved login password) for each Firefox and nothing ever gets outside the 1 folder's quarantine zone.

The original purpose of it was to browse the web or run a program without polluting the rest of windows with unwanted files all over the place.

But there is nothing wrong with the KISS method. :thumb:

Greanbean is right, however things can always be improved and what Rodnex and kabatzas are suggesting are a definate improvement. When you have +10 accounts its much easier to manage them from one desktop. Ive actually switched over from the user method.. thanks rodnex.

I like cookies - they make EB & PP purr and cuddle up to you:typing:

Me too. I've just set everything up - no more need to keep logging in and out. All cookies are stored. And the best thing... Its so easy to move all my files to another computer, and keep using the same cookies between locations. :bounce:
