changing ip address - when a router is involved

i followed the previous post on changing ip address. I checked with ipburger and can't seem to get my ip changed. I have a belkin wireless, I am able to change that ip but not the ip that appears on ip burger. Anyone got any suggestions.

What company is your ISP? You may need to speak to them to see if the IP is static: if
it is you can probably get them to change to dynamic.

I have to ask this,

Did you change the IP address of your computers network card or the Router via its management console / web page?

This is what I do

We have three computers connected to Belkin wireless router.
What I do, I turn on computer #1. I unplug the modem (the power cord). I log in to the router's administration. I click on MAC address and I change it. Than I plug in the modem. When it connects than I have a different IP address. After I save these settings (Save/Backup Settings) so later I can switch back and forth with different IPs. I can do the same thing with the other two computers, then I save those settings too, so I have three different IP address to play with. It is easy to do because every time you unplug the modem you'll get a different IP address. The problem is always the router, because it grabs one IP.

Stand on your head...

spin around three times. That should help.

ok i got my ip address to change when i connected my cable modem RR to my desktop. But after i connect my Belkin after, do i have to change the ip of the router as well.
So if using a router, I have to change 2 ip addresses for my other account.

Yes, you need a different IP for every account & this is a real pain in the tush if you have a router...not so easy to do. I, too, have a router & decided I can't spend 20-minutes disconnecting my network & reconnecting everytime I want to sign-in to EB w/different account. So...I use smarthide for 1 account & discovered using AOL (broadband) changes my IP constantly. No unplugging & plugging everything. Has been working really well w/AOL.
