IP Address will not change

Today was suppose to be the day I set up my second account and change my IP address.

I have tried (almost) everthing.

Before getting my used desktop, I was able to change my IP address with my deceased laptop by following the steps in the EBSG.

This is the second day using of using my desktop, and I have not been able to change my IP address. Something is not right.

If someone has ever had this happen to them, or know what I can do, can you please share your knowlege with me.

I have read most of all the results in the search box for "IP Address". I have also searched more specifically for Modem, since I am connected directly.

I have also tried to spoof my MAC, but when I change it manually by advice via forums and youtube It stays the same. I go to start menu > type "getmac" and my MAC has not change.

I have been doing this all day, and I need some

Have you rebooted your router/modem? I do have a hard time changing my IP address and I use cable modem and a router. Cloning MAC worked and them resetting router (and then rebooting both modem and router) sometimes work.

BAM, if the IP is static it will not change.

This post shows that. :tears:

Yes I am aware, my IP is dynamic. Prior to ordering, I read many post and they stated that I needed a dynamic IP address. I consulted with my ISP and said I have one since I am residental.

It worked two days ago, on my laptop. But not on my desktop.

So when you turn the modem off and back on, you get a different IP addresS?

Bam 03-14-2012 04:42 PM

No. But this is strange. I borrowed a laptop from a friend and connected it and I received a new IP Address. Then I reconnected it to the desktop and the old IP Address was still active.

From that conclusion, the problem exist within my Desktop. But I don't know.

Try disabling the ethernet adapter and then turn the pc off and back on and the re enable the ethernet adapter, that should do the trick
