Default Why Login to Ebay At All?

Hey guys, maybe this is a dumb question. Don't you love it when a thread starts out with that disclaimer?

Anyway, after the account is created on ebay and looks completely separate from any other account you have ever used...why do you ever need to login to ebay again?

Assuming that you are using a listing service such as inkfrog to post your auctions and gmail to answer all of your emails...why worry about logging into ebay ever again?

Seems like there is a lot of trouble and fuss trying to match up the IPs, etc. just to login to ebay. Then you may run into phone verficiation issues, etc. Am I missing something here?

If you want to check your auctions...anonymously surf (no longin, clear cookies, Fresh IP, etc.) and click on your "other items by seller" link.

you may need to revise an auction, send invoices, some people do not check their email account for answered question. that is why i always answer through the ebay messaging system. also non-paying bidder claims, checking on ebay fees. there are a lot of reasons.

Don't you just love it when it is a dumb question that needs to be answered?
How else could anyone use their sellers' account AND not log into ebay? ROFL.

Actually, from inkfrog you can
a) revise auction
b) send invoice
c) leave feedback
d) mark items as shipped, paid, etc
e) print invoices
f) combine orders
g) autorelist
h) shcedule
i) host images
j) send automated emails
k) inventory tracking

all for $9.99 a month.

So no, you don't really need to log in...

It does a lot of what SMP does for less...

Sounds OK but I prefer not to pay to do this when I can use ebay carefully and for free.

Inkfrog huh? Does it work, meaning has a suspended user used it before without logging to eBay?

Why do you care about marking items as paid or shipped? Does ebay use that stuff in their suspension algorithm at all, or do you guys do it for your own records?

mostly for own records, but IF also sends out an email telling buyer item has been shipped, which has helped a LOT with my DSR ratings. People see it was shipped within 24 hours and are happy rather than not hearing anything and getting their package a few days later.

I haven't had problems with IF and my account. No, it's not free, but I have 200+ items on ebay and it makes it really nice to manage, especially because it puts SKUs on packing slips, making the process MUCH easier. If you use Paypal, you can also use their shipping label services directly from IF and it will transfer the address (though I prefer endicia).

The only time you really need to log in is if you want to use your ebay email and unpaid item disputes, and I guess when you first open your IF account.

"How else could anyone use their sellers' account AND not log into ebay? "

Um....a listing service? The whole point of my post.

"This forum is full of people who are either too lazy or inept to find their answers."

Oh, I must have missed the thread that addresses this....could you please point it out for me then? Maybe your assumptions are more accurate than the search button...I could be wrong.

Been using the inkfrog system now with no troubles. MUCH easier than trying to manage multiple IPs and such. All ebay accounts can be run under 1 inkfrog account also...although I wouldn't recommend it just yet. We are doing some testing to check and make sure that there is no account identifier information passed from inkfrog to ebay.

Meaning, can ebay determine the difference between inkfrog acct. #1 and inkfrog acct. #2...or is ebay only able to determine that it is an inkfrog acct. generally.

More testing is needed here. This inept newbie will keep you updated.

I understand about the listing service. I guess I am a creature of habit and choose not to
use and pay for it.

How would you reply to messages without logging in to your account?
