User Swiching (really safe or not)

ok so in the stealthguide it recomends user switching,

i have a few concerns with this as processes still run in the background when user switching

obviously you have your own set of cookies etc so its much safer but as processes still run from the other user while switched is it not possible that any tracking methods used by ebay/paypal can be hapening in the process tree while you are switched to the other user account?

obviosuly the ip is reset aswell when switching users but for example i was on ebay and paypal on user account 1 then user switch to account 2 and reset router to change ip

while im in user account 2 all the processes are still in use with user account 1 as i have not actualy LOGGED OFF only SWITCHED so this does not freeze activity on the account you switched from.

so if any tracking process on user account 1 happend while after switching to account 2 we could get linked?

this is all theory ofcourse

someone want to shed any light on this subject

if you sign out of ebay and disconnect ip, and then switch user and connect new ip, you should be ok...what exact processes do you mean?

BananaMan 07-18-2012 08:28 AM

well i dont know exact what processes may be in use when they use tracking methods but basicly switching users is just like opening a new window but with a new user
everything still runs from the first user your basicly just switching over.

What system are you using? :juggle:

i have the same question..running windows 7..say account 1 is logged on ebay under ip address 191.12.15.14 then i switch user account to another one that is logged on ..example ( browser open ) but i change the ip..or check emails under this screen name..does it require ip switching just to switch to that account even if your not gonna log in to ebay/paypal?

If you wont log into eb/pp than not necessary.

soto13 07-18-2012 02:19 PM

ok thanks for the answer..one other question..my router sometimes even with the same mac address that i used previously will pull a different ip than the last time i logged on but it would still be different than the other ebay account..would that matter? logging into the same account under the same user account but with a different ip than i had before for that account.

I ALWAYS log off. For some reason switching users locks up my pooter but I do have a lot of user accounts and like me my pooter is old and creaking

oompaloompa 07-20-2012 06:40 AM

I always log off, so I think, and when I come back to accs they recognise me, but I need to log in, but couple of times, I noticed that when I came back to a particular account, just one of them, I am still logged in, and that bothered me, as I did not see how that was possible - even if I had forgotten to log off as I had disconnected ip, in fact disconnected several times and been on other accs....hope that acc was not logging all ips, do not know I am not a tech-type....

in my case i log off and restart

Does anyone know the answer to this:

I am about to do a system restore on my PC going back a few months.... The question is that if i do it will I loose my user accounts that I have created and will I also loose my logged IP on my spreadsheet (I could save the spreadsheet thou).. .........:pop2:............:pop2:

Lheonard 07-22-2012 04:43 AM

^No I don't think you will lose the user accounts, however doing a system restore is very often counterproductive, it would be better to do a complete re-installation instead IMHO.
