Etsy and Paypal re. LSO's, Cookies and Past Info Trails...
 

Hi Guys,

I just put the breaks on clicking something on Etsy as thought I better check here.

Situation:

1. Background: Had a paypal (PP) account limited about 8 months ago. Money held for 6 months and just been released. All good. Moved on...now back with a vengeance stealth wise...

2. Now I've got several new PP accounts (all stealth) and going good.

3. Out of the blue i get a sales notice from Etsy (NOTE: THE FIRST EVER SALE). Following this i get an email from the buyer saying that they have tried to pay but I'm not accepting paypal payments.

4. Logged in to my Etsy and lo and behold, my registered PP email is the one that was limited, hence understandably PP have not allowed the transaction.

5. Now here are my options:

a). Do i add one of my strong stealth PP accounts to the Etsy site and tell her to repay?

My concern: Does my Etsy profile have a unique ID and IP, hence when i change the registered PP email and the customer pays will PP know it's the same transaction and limit me?

b) I set up a new Etsy account which isn't all to difficult and redirect her to that one with the and correct stealth PP email registered on it.

Is the buyer OK about not having paypal payments?

Can you sweet talk them into using another method?

The reply to your concern is affirmative. etsy has an ID/IP for paypal....
Here's where you have to proceed carefully or you could link everything.

Yeah that's what i thought. Been thinking yoda-style. Had a chat with RSOT who agreed with us.

I've spoken to the buyer and will try to redirect them to my website which is directly linked to the stealth PP account, avoiding Etsy all together.

It's annoying really as because this is the first transaction I should have remembered to change the registered PP. Going forward, I've now deleted the old Etsy account completely and started a totally new one....with the stealth PP added. Do you think that this will be okay for using Etsy in the future?

Provided everything appears new on etsy & nothing can link you, there should not be problems.

Dont forget etsy can also allow and accept other payments.

Sometimes I offer a discount to avoid paypal... at least etsy tend not to be too fussed.

Double check where-else that old email may be. Dont get caught (accidently) again.

The option of using other payment fashion than pa yp al is solid to propose.

Yeah, only if you know your buyers.

It also adds a lot of work on a new account especially on etsy.

That must be considered before undertaking such proposals.

Also not the issue at this moment :ranger:
