Starting New: not sure of methods
 

hi new to this i dont understand the ip address thing.

i have set up my laptop done the clean extra. i have 2 computers also in the house my partner uses one of them for her ebay account with no problems.

when i checked with ipburger the computers and lap top they all have the same ip address.
my provider is bt infinity broad band and they are saying that i cannot change the ip address.

on one computer if i turn of my modem the ip address changes on all the computers .

how do i get a different ip for the laptop and other accounts i wish to open without risking my partners account being linked to mine.

please help this is confusing

Have you considered getting yourself a dongle?

You cannot just change the ip one one computer , its all or nothing with just one router.

Options are a dongle as the bosslady says , vps or have another line installed into your property.

But something else you need to consider is if you have had an account banned at the address your partners good account is flagged anyway if thats based at the same address.

So you would do well to teach them your new found skills in stealth in preperation for when they bin that account also.

There are 2 different types of IP's:

1. Internal IP which gets assigned to each computer by the Router, This IP address not be seen outside of your own home network. Usually it looks like this --> 192.168.0.1

2. The IP address assigned by your Internet Provider which is what IPBurger Reads.

I would suggest as Greenbean has suggested to get a Dongle which will avoid you and your partner from accessing Ebay from the same IP address.
