Chain Reaction Linking
 

Linking of Accounts is something I really want to get to the bottom of.

Consider this example:

Account A becomes suspended (Ebay or PP) due to a breach of policy.

Account B becomes suspended due to a link to Account A.

Now my big question is:

Could account C become suspended as it was linked to Account B?

Could account D become suspended as it was linked to Account C?

And so on....

Only because Account A was in violation of the Terms of Agreement.

What we have here is a Chain Reaction of Suspensions.

To be honest, it is far too easy to link accounts based on the smallest of evidence. The moment you buy or sell to/from someone or log on with the same IP, share a similar name, DOB, the list is endless.....

There has to be a definitive linking mechanism surely?

I am interested in any thoughts. What is the most elaborate way they could link us?

it is only easy for them to link accounts if you make it easy for them. they have bots that look for certain things and humans who look for other things. sometimes you get shutdown in a day, sometimes a week and sometimes 2 years. if you think you have been linked i would start from the beginning as you are just asking for eventual trouble.

Often it is not so elaborate.

The most simple things can cause a limitation.

New users ask can I use my name, can I use my old address, can I use the same paypal.
For the UK, one of the worst questions is can I just edit my old address...

Such moves create a dangerous basis for a new stealth account.

To learn the base line of not being linked, apply this rule. (This was the FIRST rule I was ever shown on this forum).

Never use old information.

If you want I could tell you of users who made GREAT new stealth accounts. Put a lot of effort into their work.
And then one day got killed off by ebay.
I keep a shed-load of notes about these issues.

There is nothing elaborate at all about the way they link you. You could be a totally different person than the offender and still get linked.
