Best & cheapest dongle to get in U.S.

I recently got the CLEAR atlas usb stick thinking that it would resolve the IP change issue between different accounts.

Boy was I wrong...

So now I'm looking for another wireless device to be able to change IP at will. Browsing through the various threads, many people here seem to prefer the Virgin Mobile devices.

However, which Virgin device should I get? The "U600 3G/4G USB STICK" or the more expensive "OVERDRIVE PRO™ 3G/4G MOBILE HOTSPOT"?? Do both these devices enable me to change IP via plug/unplug??

If there are other cheaper alternatives other than Virgin Mobile, please kindly advise!!!

Thanks :)

I use the U600 and you can toggle between 3G and 4G where available. My reception/speed is pretty crappy and is only truly reliable in off hours (before 7:00am). I also have T-Mobile and pretty much the same situation. I'm actively searching for a solution for my poor reception. I'm only a mile from an interstate in a pretty densely populated area, so there should be better coverage.

The lowest data plan is $35.00, so I doubt you're going to find a much cheaper plan. I bought my U600 so I don't have any contract. The T-Moile is $25.00/month no contract. Don't worry about spending a few more dollars if you can find a great connection as it will save tons of waste time/headaches.

I am currently using a Verizon Pantech UML290VW with @ $50/Month. This is by far the best USB Dongle I have ever had. The price is very well worth it...for speed and IP range.

The device doesn't matter as much as the network.

I don't prefer the mifi hotspot style devices because you have to turn them off and on again. It's much easier with the usb style.

I like verizon, the best. If you can get a 3g aircard those work the best because of the ip pool, where with 4g, sometimes (often actually) your ip doesn't change frequently.

I have the overdrive. Its nice and everything just that virgin mobile sucks and the speeds are the same as 56k.

I use Clear 4G and it's IP address doesn't change as often as I'd like.. actually as FG says, it's rare unless I head out of town. It makes it's stealth usage limited.. but eh, it's a good on the go device.. 4G is nice.

Tethering is works, using Samsung hotspot.. same with the good'o reset of the cable modem.
