Breaking my modem

Do I have to worry about my Modem breaking because I change the IP address on it so much?

I found mine broke when I jumped on them in sheer frustration ;)

That said, some 'older' modems have had issues.

What are you using?

I have used mine to change IP several times per day since a few years now and never got a problem (I use to switch it on and off to get a new IP address).

In any case, an average network/wifi modem is now in the range of 40$... not a big issue if the on/off switch will break in 2 or 3 years time.

No issues with modem breaking here - net provider company also has warranty on it...

Never had a modem break myself. If it ever happens though they are fairly cheap to replace.

Not at all. The modem is just a physical device for you to communicate with the outside world via your ISP.

IP's changing on a modem happen frequently over the life of a modem.

In fact, your IP may have changed many times and you may not not noticed (loss of power overnight, lease time expiring w/ ISP, etc.).

No reason to worry about damaging the modem by simply changing the IP.

Ya it wasn't really about the IP changing...I was more worried about shutting it on and off....

I got a cheap Cisco 2100, cheap to replace...may just buy another to have handy incase
