Thunderbird settings for eBay emails
 

Just getting around to installing Thunderbird on a new computer so I can instantly be notified of anything, rather than having to manually check my account and connect to my VPS.

Are there any settings in Thunderbird I should change to prevent being tracked and having my home IP shown when I open a message (never clicking any links)? Any settings on the GMail account? Settings under the eBay account?

The only setting I found worth noting that could help, is to UNCHECK "Accept cookies from sites"....Would that be all?

In Thunderbird you need to goto view settings - message body and set to plain text

Thanks! Just did that.

Also under 'View', I noticed "Display Attachments Inline" is checked. I figured I should uncheck that as well

Thanks you actually, I did not see that setting. I have unchecked it now myself.

Saying that, I have been using thunderbird for a long time with over 100 accounts with no problems to date with the setting enables, but I still unchecked it just to be safe.

what is the purpose of thunderbird ?

Its just a program where you can check and respond to emails, much like Microsoft Outlook.

If you have a few email accounts and want to check them all from the same place/computer then its handy.
