IP question
 

Quick one. If I reset my IP by unplugging my modem for a while.

Will ebay be able to detect my old acct. I am gonna be using a new laptop which has no cookies on it.

you should be fine. I've used accounts on the same ip recently and had one suspended and the other stayed up for months. It didn't even go down for being linked to the other account.

OK apparently reseting my modem didn't change my IP.

Here is what I have do you think I will be ok.

1. Brand New laptop that I havent used for anything. (thus no cookies)
2. New ebay acct opened at friends comp.
3. New bank acct used for new paypal acct.
4. PO box for address on both ebay and paypal.

The only thing I don't have is a new IP. Will I be ok if I start listing items from home on my new laptop.

Shut modem down for 30 minutes and say which modem, service, location to get better help here.

I have bellsouth (AT&T) DSL service.

I unplugged it overnight.

No luck.

Should I have unplugged router too?

Yes, your router retains your modem's old IP information and if you don't reset it either your ip address will never change. Go through these forums for more info: http://www.aspkin.com/forums/ebay-tracking/

I don't know if this is obvious - but even if you go somewhere where you have a new IP to set up your new accounts - if you log into them at home without changing that IP - you will be linked in no time. I have a Road Runner modem and a Time Capsule router/external hard drive. It took over two days unplugged to change the IP. So, I ordered a separate Modem for eBay/PAYPAL stuff from AT&T that is a DSL and no router. I can reset it in less than 2 minutes. It is an extra $25.00 per month but well worth the cost. I rotate between 5 different accounts using this modem and I use the Road Runner Modem/router combo for all other surfing - like accessing this Forum. You can NEVER log into your new eBay or PAYPAL accounts from an IP that was used with your suspended account. Also, it is a good idea to change IP's between different new eBay/PAYPAL accounts in case one gets suspended. If not, then if one gets suspended they probably all will be. It happened to me.
