Firefox 30 > firefox portable cookies transfer.
 
I've spent the past four hours reading on how to transfer cookies from firefox to Firefox, following several guides, can anyone point me in the right direction on how to transfer cookies from Firefox 30 to Firefox portable please.

Which version of Firefox are you copying the files from?

Did you use the "Sign in to Sync" option?
