hi i have a question i hope some one could help me with this. ok im making more ebay acc. but i don't want to spend the 30.00 for a new camera also that would be for each acc it will add up lol. will it be ok to remove the picture info/date for a new ebay acc or will this hit me with a flag because if there is no picture date. also what do you think is the best way to remove the date/tracking. here is what i can do.
1. use adobe cs6 and open the pictures and do a print screen and save it as a new picture?
2. or use BatchPurifier ?
what do you think is more safe Photoshop or BatchPurifier gets rid of the tracking. i just want to make sure if i make a new ebay acc it will not get shut down because there is no pictures date/tracking any help would be great thanks. |

Agree with ilcarletto, Ebay isn't going to go postal if you don't have data on your pics.

Everyone is anal about photos on this site 'just to be safe'.
Truth is eBay don't look at your photos at all.

I find exif cleaner easy to use and cleans all data , very easily

Truth is eBay don't look at your photos at all. | In your dreams. If ebay decide to do a full manual review, photos are checked.
Bans for photos being used on different accounts happen.
Preferable to take the steps to avoid links where necessary. |

If you have say a soft link between accounts, something that may or not be a true link and something that is appealable
Than when you call in the rep will be able to pull up every account that is in question and they look at the picture, the fonts used every little detail and if there are any other similarities with the soft link they already placed , it becomes a solid link and suspension across the board
It actually happened to me with two accounts in question , and I was on the phone and could listen as she pulled up the account and was comparing the two
Something that is rare and probably never happens where they let u in on how they do things because they are always so worried u will circumvent there security and make another account
But besides the data they will look at the actual picture itself, and if ur selling the same item that may just be enough and they won't even look into the metadata or anything else sometimes

My personal photo solution: I have a decent point and shoot camera, take a few good photos, and use the Print Screen button to grab it and resave it in a Windows Paint page, and name it from there in a "washed" folder on my desktop. Takes a few extra minutes, but worth the protection in the long run. Completely removes everything from the photo. I can use my nice little camera on as many accounts as I want to with no risk at all. Everything gets removed from the photo, even the size, since I clip and paste only a square from the Print Screen screengrab each time. Everything is removed. All the meta data, that is.... now to the next part of photo linking....
DMShark is right- no data doesn't cause a problem, and they won't see your photo, but if they LOOK- like to manually look and see if there might be a link between two people/accounts, and you have the same background, or similar listing styles, you bet your batsuit they will link them.
Remember, you can find almost half the people on Match.com using Google image search- and for some of these E*ay security department people, looking, finding, and linking is their full time job- if there's a software that can do it, you bet they in some way have it running all the time in the background to link or find things either to connect to high risk accounts or listing habits, or at least they are looking into the option to do this in ways they aren't already. Meta data, background, and listing styles- you have to cover all the areas. They might not see certain things on a regular basis, but when they LOOK for whatever reason, it opens up a zillion new things they can see and things they can link by.

Welcome to the forums. You likely got the call as a routine new account creation.
While I don't know specific exif "data" to remove, I would say all that you can and have it look new - or retake new photos

What I did was go to the local hobby store and get piece of colored foam board for each account. I have the Ebay ID written on each one so all pics on each account all have the same unique pattern/color.
I also use Batchpurifier after editing the photos and have a "Cleaned Ebay pics" folder on my desktop. I am bummed the hundreds of my Ebay items photos compiled on my photobucket over the last 10 years are now worthless :(
