Can eBay log your IP if your not signed in?
 

I understand that eBay can log your IP once you are signed into their site but can they:

1) Log your IP if you are just browsing the site without logging in?

2) You have the sign-in page open where it says "You've signed out. See you again soon!"

Can they log your IP on that sign-on page as well even if you haven't browsed the site?

To be safe if your logged into the user account or vmware image of a stealth account, do not browse ebay without the correct ip

What about the sign-in page that I left open?

I didn't browse but I did have the sign-on page open...Does that constitute "browsing"?

No, I just closed the eBay Tab but I was not signed in at all. Just the sign-in page was there, that's all.

Where it says, "You've signed out. See you again soon!"

Any possibility of that Local IP getting linked to my Stealth IP?

They can always track your IP, even when not logged in. But when you logout they can't match that IP to any account (unless you're still in a profile and they can match it to other user cookies) but that IP is already in the system so if you change IP at that moment and browse ebay not logged in that IP might get linked with the current cookies on that profile and if then you change profiles and login to another account can get linked, it's always best to switch profiles, and THEN change IP BEFORE opening any browser windows that has ebay on it EVEN if not logged in.

What about the sign-in page being open? I was logged out of eBay, there was no browsing, just the sign-in page was open which I quickly closed.

Any chance of linking there? Does the sign-in page being open allow them to see my cookies or do you have to actually log-in or do some browsing before they can start seeing or tracking cookies?

I would think just the sign-in page being opened should not be a cause for alarm...

Do you mean refresh the eBay page? Reason I ask is because I did refresh the IPBurger page to check the IP but not the eBay page..

I just closed the entire browser when I saw that eBay sign-in page open!:mad:

yeah as long as you didnt refresh the ebay page your fine, but overall no point in stressing it now just be careful next time

Thank you for the encouragement, but I have a feeling I'm going to be changing that blasted IP pretty soon (I mean the local IP, not the stealth IP) just to avoid the possibility of those IP's getting linked. :pout:

So lets say, I have ip X and login to ebay 1, do what I need to do.
Then I logout of ebay 1 and close the ebay tab on browser.

Then I change ip from X to Y.

Switch to another user for other stealth account.
Logon to ebay 2.

There will be no link and I will be safe right?

First you will switch user and Then you will change IP. Make sure you have switched user first.

Also another tip is to close the browser completely. Instead of closing just the eBay tab, close the browser completely (because you might have gmail open or PayPal open as well)

You have less to worry about if you close the browser completely when you're ready to switch user.
