eBay identifying apple product when plugged into computer

This surely could be a way to track users. I plugged my ipod touch in my computer while logged into a seller account. I noticed a popup come with "iPod touch ##GB" on the sell link on eBay. If its able to identify an apple product being plugged in, Im sure they are able to read the SN attached to said device. Could be for linking etc. Just letting everyone know.

Can you clarify? Websites don't have access to that sort of information without a activeX (Silverlight?) or java permission.

Silverlight is kind of a successor to activeX. Basically a competitor to Java, but more sophisticated.

Firefox, and silverlight has been enabled for netflix. But when the question of "Do you want to enable silverlight" comes up on the ebay login page, I never confirm nor deny. I ignore it and continue as usual.
