IP address question - How different does it have to be?
 

Hi,

I'm in Country X. Ebay just got me for being linked to a suspended account.

I was in Country Y and I had 2 accounts. One got suspended in February which had more than $800 of unpaid fees. Of course as a portion of them were for sales I was never able to receive payment for and listings I had made, I thought screw that I won't pay.

I had used account #2 from the same IP and then when I moved back here, I started acc #3 and now they have gone back through their records, linked #2 to #1 and now 2 and 3 are both suspended too.

My IP when I checked today was

XXX.XXX.32.90

It's probably been that for a long time as I never turn off the adsl box or wireless router. Turns out it's not fixed. I reset the box and the IP is now

XXX.XXX.33.81 (where X was the same in both cases)


Are those different enough not to get caught? If I start a new account with cookies cleared and change paypal email am I safe?

Yes, small changes are enough. Make sure all other things are changed as well such as info, cc, clear cookies ... etc. And no one is ever safe from ebay and paypal!

yes and make sure your ip address matches that of the locations you have on file.
