Can they see if your wifi source is password protected?
 

Just wondering you think that Eby can see if your wifi source is password protected- ie, if you're using a public wifi vs a closed network. I suppose from their perspective two accounts sharing free wifi would be less likely linked but two completely different accounts sharing access to a password protected wifi would much more likely be linked somehow.

Maybe it's a silly question, but I know they must assign less risk points to accounts using the same connections on public wifi... if they can tell the difference, but can they?


I'm asking if they can see if there's a password required- not what the password is, or who the provider is, just if there was a WEP encryption or whatever you call it (or not).... Sorry if this turns out to be a silly question.

Ebay can see your IP......they can't see the wifi login or password, your underwear, if your wearing contacts......

you're making things wayyy to complicated for yourself. As long as you have a fresh ip for ebay to use you're fine.

I know they can't see the login or password it'self, but can they tell if the wifi connection is an encrypted one or not....?

IP is the only thing as of today to worry about.

Why would that matter? I mean what type of encryption are you talking about?

I always feel like we have to drag out all the information we need to give a proper answer.....

Just WEP encryption. It's not important, in the big picture of successfully running a stealth account, and I realize that. It's not really that important at all, either.

I was just wondering if they can see if your wifi is has WEP or WPA2 or other type of encryption/password. (again, not what the password actually is, or who the provider is, just if your wi-fi goes through an encrypted connection).

Even if they could see your encryption....I don't see why that would hurt your accounts. Obviously you should always have your wifi encrypted.

Talking about encryption and paranoia, you might as well go VPN. Even if you don't put a password to your WiFi or use a public WiFi, you are guaranteed that you data is not being snooped. Your ISP cannot read the data being transmitted.

They can tell based on IP and number of users of said IP
