As a long time user of inkfrog open, today i got a pretty disturbing email. Quote:
Important Privacy Policy Updates...
Hello,
We would like to inform you of a recent update made to inkFrog's Privacy Policy. While this update is very small and more of a formality, we wanted to notify our customers of the change to ensure full transparency.
Why are we updating?
The reason for this update was so that we can better assist our customers, as well as offer them promotions which would of otherwise been unavailable. We understand that our customers privacy is very important, and is why we chose what we share with a lot of consideration. The information we share is only used with the intent to help our customers become more successful. It's also information that is already available to the sharing party, thus, this is more of a formality update. If you wish to opt out of this update, you are able to by following the instructions at the bottom of this email.
The update to inkFrog's Privacy Policy includes a small change which allows us to share some information with eBay on your account. Again, this update will be used only for data collection, promotional efforts, and overall eBay help. The information we may share with eBay includes, but is not limited to;
inkFrog Account Holder Name
inkFrog Account Holder’s eBay ID
Email address associated with inkFrog account
Phone number associated with inkFrog account
As as result of this update to our privacy policy an eBay rep may contact you regarding, but not limited to; promotional efforts, account support and review, general eBay support and/or overall selling guidelines. One example where we may share data would be a promotion whereby you, the seller, may benefit from certain discounts or partnerships being offered by inkFrog or eBay. We may also share general statistics.
Note, since our relationship with eBay is that of a third party (which uses eBay's API), what is being shared is already known by eBay. We are updating our privacy policy more as a formality, but a formality which allows us to work with eBay openly, in a manner which helps our customers.

To opt out of basic account information sharing with eBay when logged into your inkFrog account, go to "Account", uncheck " Please keep me up to date from eBay. ".

| I've opted out naturally but its still pretty disturbing that they though this could even possibly be ok, what do you guys think?

Yes, that does look a bit worrisome. When I generate a token with ink frog, half of my accounts give me the phone number or email verification, because it looks like i'm signing in from a different computer, but I know for sure that my user account and cookies matched. Did not see it in ship station however. What do you guys think? |

My interpretation is they tell ebay your inkfrog user details. EG if you inkfog email is 123 and phone number is 456 they tell ebay this account has these details. then ad that across all your account and bam link.
I've never had a problem with linking on inkfrog open before and ive been using it since alpha version. However i did once notice with the messaging feature they forward on best offer messages complete with images when normal messages are plain text only. My guess is they just do a straight redirect of those messaging and im assuming leave all tracking beacons in place. I messaged them about it and their attitude was very very dismissive basically telling me it was a non issue but not adding any detail. since then i only check best offer emails in gmail and log in to reply, I've never had a account go down for linking, but its still a bit worrisome. |

Looks like an ebay tactic to screw stealth users (doubt their trying to promote anything).
Any idea if inkfrog is the only one to be compromised, or are other platforms following suite? |

why is inkfrog needed?
The more you involve a 3rd party, the more chances of them sharing information etc without your knowledge.
Sorry I just never used inkfrong, auctiva, etc before and not sure why it is needed.
Only thing I ever used in the past was TurboLister and I didn't care for it. That was years ago. |

Because if you have a crazy amount of accounts, it's just that much easier to manage. |

Managing multiple accounts takes ages without something that unifies them. I mean AGES! |

i never plan to run more than 10 accts. just starting off very slowly here. |

Instead of logging in and out of 10 accounts you log into just one. Almost like one large account with individual stores that way.
Much less likely to mess up and link accounts etc... |

Does anyone have the opt in or out link? Or was this about whether or not to close your account? I remember there was a switch to turn off eBay sending u promotional offers, now I can't find that link anywhere. I know for sure I opted out that option. |

to opt out go to account settings by clicking on the person in the top right corner.
FYI. I Still haven't had any linking. It's possible i got lucky and read the email before ebay had a chance to enact their new power trip. Any new users should opt out before adding the first ebay account. |

There should be no problem so long as the option to not share information with ebay is ticked. The option should be in settings. |

Been 4 months now. I haven't had a link yet. So as long as its turned off I assume you'll be fine.
I also dont open messages sent by ebay in the message feature (ones sent actually by ebay like invoices. I do open all buyer messages) as the ebay ones contain images that I dont trust. Open those in gmail after disabling images or log into ebay for those. |

I am reviving an old thread because I have had a lot of accounts shut down in the past day all within the same two hours, and I am trying to find possible causes for linking. I have a feeling it is from Ink Frog and I would like to know if anybody who uses Ink has had a similar experience |
