Entropay registration woes

Hello to everyone

I have recently tried to create an Entropay account. Just after I entered my personal details (all real, no ⊗⊗⊗⊗ address or name), and before I could even enter my credit card data, I received an e-mail from Entropay saying that for verification purposes, I had to send multiple documents including a copy of my ID, of the funding sources, of a utility bill and the name of the merchant I intended to shop at. They informed me that my account would be "restricted" in the meantime.

Since I don't want to send these documents, I didn't enter my credit card data. The next day, I received another e-mail from Entropay, this time telling me they needed the documents to verify the account because "it has reached
such an amount that verification is required". Considering I've never even entered a funding source in the first place, I thought it was really weird.
After that, I received yet another e-mail saying that my Entropay card was ready and that I could add funds to it.

So this leads me to my questions:

1) What does "restricted" mean here? Is the Entropay card usable at all when an account is restricted? All I want to do is to be able to add funds to the Entropay card and make purchases with it. Does a restricted account allow that or not?

2) Since sending my personal documents to Entropay is out of the question, is there a reputable company offering a similar Virtual Visa card service but less nosy than Entropay?

Thanks for any assistance :)

Most of the reputable companies ask for ID. In terms of offering a good service for what you claimed you wanted to do, entropay are great. :yar:

Hi GreenBean

Thanks for your reply.

I have no doubt that Entropay is good, but the thing is I contacted them before trying to create the account and they told me that they pretty much only requested documents when suspicious activity was detected, which of course couldn't be the case with mine since I didn't even put money on it.

Also, believe it or not, my intended use for an Entropay account was the one I specified in my first post. I found this forum by googling for some information about Entropay and ID requests and it seemed like the right place to ask :)

Entropay did the same to an account of mine. Hit me with documents. I sent another email outlining much of what you said. Card got activated. May well be worth trying.

This is the email I use support@entropay.com

Well, I e-mailed Entropay twice and finally got an answer: basically, the account is restricted and will remain so until I send them the documents, which I don't plan on doing.
I think it might be due to the fact I chose "US dollar" as currency when I live in Europe. Who knows?

At least, I didn't give them my credit card info. So that settles it, no Entropay for me. It's probably for the best, I'm not sure I want to use a company that treats all new customers as potential conmen.

Anyway, thanks to you GreenBean for helping.

[edit]they have deleted my account and info at my request. At least, they are responsive.
