Etsy and IP Address Detections
 

Hi there,

I opened a new Etsy shop earlier this year and have been avoiding using my laptop because I believe I opened my suspended account on it afterward. I would like to log into my new store with my laptop, but I am confused at how the IP addresses work. I am using a MacBook laptop and am always just picking up WiFi. Now, I may have used my laptop at my relative's house before, and so, in that case, should I see about changing the router IP? Or do I just need to change my own IP on my laptop (by configuring a manual IPv4 address...if that's how it works). I would love any clarification, thank you!

Let's start with, how are you accessing the new ETSY account right now? You seem to be all over the road.

Welcome to the forums - do you track the IP you use?

If you've been using your house wifi to access the store, it really doesn't matter what device you use on the same wifi as it'll be the same IP.

This is basic stealth here, you need to know your IPs and should have a method to keep track of them. On your laptop, have you cleaned all the old data/cookies/cache/etc from the browser you used?

If you're not very technical a second user account is optimal.
