Etsy help.

Hey

eBay stealth user here. Have had huge bull**** with eBay and PayPal and lost accounts. Have rebuilt under stealth.

Wanted to get some advice from the knowledgable on Etsy.
Desperately want to make a go of this account. Everything I sell is hand made, great quality but expensive.

I’m looking for the things that are going to cause me potential Grief and what not to do really.

I did with eBay everything I could to be a good business and operate professionally and well within the law/rules and intend to mirror this with an Etsy shop. No vero items, no Chinese stuff just what we make in our workshops.

Re: Etsy help.

I had the same kind of items on etsy and ebay. It did nothing but cause me issues. I sold custom items that were $200 and up.
I had people file claims for things when they weren't even supposed to be delivered yet and etsy and paypal would honor them.
I finally gave up and only sell items that are already made. That would be my only advice for selling custom online.
I only sell my custom work to people who are willing to pick up. No shipping.

I know a legitimate, well established artist who was trying to sell on etsy. Etsy demanded pictures of the shop, invoices from suppliers,
names of workers, etc. The shop gave up and won't sell on etsy any longer. They are legitimate and etsy ran them off because the
people who do the verifications are idiots and couldn't tell a scam if it hit them in the face.

My advice would be to try and sell less expensive items and a higher priced one here and there until your shop is established. You will still need to keep lower priced items in there. The key is quantity. The more items you sell then the less chance you have of having a high percentage of issues. That's all they seem to look at. If you sell 10 items and have 1 issue that's huge compared to 100 items and 1 issue. Sell smaller items to keep your quantity up so if you do wind up having any issues, it's less of an issue.

You can sell expensive items, just need to make sure the store looks legitimate and has proof of hand-making the items in the listing itself.
