If someone opens a case against you

I have sold over 500 things and have had a buyer open a case against me for non delivery, luckily I can provide tracking but am reluctant because it comes from China and I am scared I will get shut down. I am hoping the buyer will close the case on her own now that I DM'ed the buyer the tracking.

I am hoping she closes the case now that she can track it but if she doesn't I can add the tracking to the case and it will say delivered. Only thing is, if I add the tracking will they close down my shop since it is from China? Luckily with USPS you really have to look and click "more" where most people just look quickly, see their delivery date and don't care about much else. You would have to do a detailed search to see its from China otherwise USP's site just says "delivered". I have changed my shipping settings to ship from Asia but were not set to that when she ordered. I am just tired of refunding people for Christmas. If it's not there on time they just magically expect a refund.

If I add tracking to the case file will my shop be closed?

Shipping from china, on etsy sounds a problem if you are not actually in asia, since the site is vintage and handmade stuff, so even if your stuff is handmade etc, it comes from the land of mass-produced...

I do not think you should add china tracking to etsy.

ship from asia on settings, is maybe not a good idea either.

you need to ship from your location ideally, etsy is higher prices, so maybe you can factor this in profit and you can control the tracking, if you cannot do this then at least over busy christmas postal times....

I would not be impressed if I got something from china that was meant to come from canada?, and I would question its original etsy-esque qualities too.

I would give them a refund.

If you dont want to provide tracking, for specific stealth reasons, you have to issue a refund. Or etsy will issue one on your behalf.

If you have sold 500 items, then you know that sometimes stuff gets lost even tho it is scanned. Or maybe the person is trying to get a freebie. Once you are making large volumes of sales, scammers and lost items are a cost of doing business. Factor it into your prices, and have a bit of money in reserve incase someone needs a refund.

Issue the refund and move on with your business.

P.S. If you are in the US and Ship from US, and the package says delivered, Etsy will side with you. FYI. Customer may still leave bad feedback, but feedback is not as damaging on etsy as it is on ebay.

My first question is what is the value of the item?
That is a factor I use.

Earn some good Karma if the value is under your budget and refund the drop kick...I mean buyer....

Or they can just open another account like those they offered to sell people on here before.
