Opening a store: can I sell same items?
 

Hello everyone,

Me and my gf had an etsy store for more than 3 years. No open cases, no complaints, all 5 stars reviews, handmade items. One day one of our listings got suspended by et.zy. I inquired why did this happen, as our items were handmade or handmade-vintage. Instead of an explanation we received canned e-mails saying thet our account would be deleted in a month. Obviiously, I panicked and asked for explanation. They sent more canned e-mails with vague statements about possible policy violations and suspended the shop, along with personal accounts we used only for shopping. It all happened in a heart beat.

I have read the stealth guide and I am preparing to open a new shop. Question is: could I sell the same items? I've read that some stuff, like jewelry could get you in trouble.

Do I need a new camera? Or is it enough to clean the meta data from pics?

Changing the photos is a must. You need to clean the meta data, regardless of the camera that took the photos.

No particular item is going to get you shut down. Some categories are watched more than others, but the item category itself shouldn't get you banned if you set the shops up correctly.

I am planning to use variation of my name, plus all new info. I'll try listing items I haven't listed before and/or re-do all the pics. I am just worried that combination of the same city, variation of my name (same surname) and similar items could be a red flag.
