Anyone experiencing lower visits than usual?
 

I don't mean for this to be like one of those threads that pop up every 3 seconds on the Etsy forums. But I just opened a new shop, did the same things I always do as far as number of items listed, titles and tags and I'm seeing drastically lower visits and views than I usually do within the first few weeks of a new shop. I was wondering if anyone was experiencing the same thing or if it's just a slow month.

Still heavily depends on the products. I know there’s a bunch of new shops in my market and I haven’t taken a hit. (Yet....)

From what others are saying online April appears to be quite a slow month. My sales seem quite steady however (touch wood).

In my experience, the longer the shop is open the better the stats become. Give it some time.

Tax filing time, sales and views always drop, people are doing other things. :)

I never experience a downturn except in January after Christmas and around August when back to school shopping is at its peak. I'd imagine my items are targeted in the teens to early 30's group so I think that's a good indication as to why there's a big swing.

People on here will sell Halloween masks, then swear on their life that the selling platform is going under, if they aren't getting much traffic in April. Beats all I've ever seen! :lol:

Since I started in my niche I have down turn starting in April, which is the worst month, and it lasts until August just before school starts back up. For the last two years all the Negative feedback I've received is from April, May, June, July. I've yet to get any Neg's outside of those 4 months. The heat must make people angry of something...

A) No one here is selling Halloween masks, or any other similarly seasonal products for that matter and is baffled why they're not getting traffic off season. Why you're assuming that is beyond me.

B) The selling platform in question is Etsy which is known to mess around with search algorithms from time to time, so while no one is "swearing on their life that it's going under" (again I don't know where you got that from), bringing up the subject for discussion is hardly preposterous.

C) As for your "sell something someone wants" comment, I am. I said it was a slow month relative to my usual. I didn't say I wasn't selling at all.

Congratulations, you have added absolutely nothing to the discussion. Maybe get off your high horse, sometimes? ...or don't, I'm just a comment not a cop.

It was a general statement about threads like this. For every person seeing slow sales, there are 999 people killing it.(or at least having normal business)

And since you had to break it down and bullet-point my ass, I'll just answer your question. No, it's not a slow month as far as my business is concerned.

Sell in more than one category and get more items listed to increase exposure. Problem solved!
