Self competition

Let’s assume the following:
I own 2 etsy shops, both shipping from same city.
Both shops have the same listings ( same price, tags etc)with only 10-20 different listings.

My question is this :
Am I self competing with myself in the following scenario?
I know more shops = more traffic = more sales but in the mentioned scenario is that the case?

Yes you're competing with yourself but you'll probably get the sale either way. With a marketplace like Etsy where only so many buyers are going to want what you're selling, I can't imagine it's too beneficial to have multiple listings for the same item. Sounds like an easy way for Etsy to link you accounts.

You are competing with yourself, but also withe everyone else. If you are 1 of 10 sellers then you have a 10% chance of a sale (very simplified I know!) but if you are 2 sellers out of 11 then your chance increases to 18%

Re: Self competition

Consider your target market and present listings geared towards different stereotypes. You may see something like a 10% increase since you'll be tapping into a larger portion of your buyer base. Good question to ask is why someone might buy item #1a over #1b, and vice versa.

I understand your POV but I’m still not sure don’t know why.
Anyway, it’s better not to have 2 identical shops.

It's a yes and no, but I kike to look at it from a different positive view.

I have over 10 shops right? each designed differently, same exact product.
Customer A would like Shop A better while Customer B, the other shop... for no reason whatsoever.

So I think you are doing good
