Is it woth it?
 

Hello, I'm new here. I just learned about stealth accounts a week ago and I've been trying to research the subject. I understand that I need to read the ebay guide and go from there, but I have a question that I need answered before I put in all of my time and effort into this process.

Firstly, some background on my situation. I have an Etsy account that I opened 6 months ago. I wasn't aware of what copyright infringement was and I got two legal emails from etsy within a span of a week after about 2 months of business. I educated myself on the laws, took down the listings that weren't allowed and basically started all over from scratch with all original designs. It's been going good, but with research, I've found out that etsy can ban you after a 3rd strike on your account and they don't care about sellers.

I'm trying to make something out of my shop and now I'm terrified that I will make a stupid mistake in the future or that I'll get targeted by competition. I would like to create a stealth account just in case something goes wrong.

Also, my mom has an etsy shop and I would hate to get us both suspended because of my stupid past mistakes. However, I saw on a thread here that it's now impossible to make and etsy stealth account without a SSN (something about direct checkout/merchant account being required), is this true?

All I need to know is that making an etsy stealth account is still possible, if yes, I will continue my research. If not, there's no point and I'll just hope for the best with my account's future lol. Thank you in advance for any feedback! :d

it depends. sometimes etsy bans you after 3rd strike, sometimes even even after first strike and sometimes after 7-8 strikes.
however, if you want to make stealth acc thats actually seems difficult at the beginning, but more you get inside this topic, the easier it will get.

Btw, if you will not sell any high risk items in future and will do everything legal, you shouldn't get banned so easily in your legit account!

I would suggest you to temporarily close your shop or just keep it empty for some amount of time (lets say, 1 to 2 years) to make it cool off, then start selling ur stuff (non high risk items of course) again
