Any holes in my plan?
 

Hi all!

This forum and the stealth guide have been so helpful as I try to launch my fashion & fine jewelry line on E*sy after being suspended over a bad order in December. I'm in the US. Can you take a look at my plan and see if I'm overlooking anything?

I plan to open an account in my husband's name using a new gmail and a bank account in his name (he has consented to this and we do not share a last name). It will use my parent's address, which is about 10 minutes from our home. My parents DO share my last name.

He will open a new bank account in his name, also using my parents' address.

In order to create the account, I will create a new user on my Mac and tether to my phone's wifi. Is this sufficient or will I need Fresh VPN too?

I will be selling different products in the same category with different pictures. I won't be using the same camera.

Am I missing anything? Anything I need to rethink? I know it's discouraged here to use friends/family info, but it wasn't clear why. We are newly married and have never filed taxes together before, but will in the future.

I am no pro and am lost myself. But if the phone is being used for the etsy app, wouldn't that be an issue? I understand you never mentioned that, but moreover for my fyi.

Yeah, from what I've seen using the etsy app should be avoided completely unless you have a brand new device that has never connected to your old account.

I can't really comment on the Etsy account creation but I don't think your husband will be able to open a bank account with an address other than his own. They require two forms of ID and most banks will mail a test statement to validate your address. USPS won't deliver bank mail if they don't recognize the name at the address, so you may have problems there.

tethering will work. as its fully dynamic address. and doesnt matter if you used that phone for etsy or even etsy app before.
when you use your phone for tethering, it doesnt share any info with etsy from your phone. So basically your phone is working only just like a modem.
The Plan is good so far, however i'm not in US and i may be missing something.

Interesting. He has an existing account I could use, but it's registered with the address we currently share (but still only his name and SS on the account). Would that flag?

I must have received my neighbors bank statement several times ,sometimes it is same street number but different street,sometimes it is right next door from me,
Years ago,some one got a bank solicitation mail of mine,apply for the service and got a free radio,leaving me to pay for the account,whatever they offer I dont remember,but they get a free radio .
Someone also has gotten my SS STATEMENT and I got his,back then SS sent out statements every year.
During hurricane season,I fail to receive several bank statements.
One postman never deliver my auto insurance renewal,and its reminder,I have to find an insurance company which will insure me and pay extra for not having insurance for more than a month!
I dont think they read every piece of mail,bank or non bank

This is probably obvious, but I should avoid using any part of my previous shop name right? If it was 3 words before, using just one of those words is probably still not a good idea?

I wouldn't use the similar names.
Although it may sound like being paranoid, but still. better not to risk :)

Using the existing bank account wouldn't raise any red flags as long as it hasn't been used before.

Unlike Ebay or Paypal,ETSY can and will access seller bank account if he/she loses a dispute.
Paypal used to do that many years ago and folks complain and so it stopped,but some swear PAYPAL is still doing it?

if you are using your husband name and your parents house address (your parents have the same last name as you),his new gmail email address,his new bank account with your parents address and you will be accessing your Etsy account with your phone and WIFI.
why not use your hubby's phone if you need to access your Etsy account?
is there a laptop or PC in the house?

another giveaway is zipcode and what you sell,if they notice someone in your zipocde very close to you is selling same old same old stuff !
they could find out the house belonged to someone with your last name and not too far from you.
An Etsy seller was banned from Etsy for not paying his bills,he came back with his mother id,they found out and add his old bills to his new bills but leave his shop open.
Then he failed to pay his bill again,this time they banned him for good.
I believe he is using the same Iphone and PC.

i suggest using a proper VPN rather than tether from your phone.
