Anyone dirty like me?
 

Who here likes to report the competition? In the beginning I used infringing material for my products bc I was 19 and stupid. Now I make sure I have a commercial license for all of my images and cross reference public domain. I’m debating reporting someone in particular...thoughts? I’ve done it in the past but now it feels bad bc I know how much big sellers depend on their income. Although if you’re at the million mark and you haven’t been caught yet do I even feel bad?....in the past it has been delicious to see those top sellers eat ****. 🤣 I know I’m a mess! Join in if you like mayhem!

I've never had to report anyone for using my content, but I sure have been reported many times.

I'm fortunate to know a thing or two about Photoshop and Illustrator so I make my images in a way that makes it difficult for others to personalise. Don't have to report anyone, and no one has to report me.

Same for description.
My methods don't hold it all in for me, but it's enough to keep away a considerable % of sellers suffering from Obsessive CopyLeft Disorder.

Unless someones using your actual content/pictures that you own then I don't know how you would ever be able to report someone. Remember some people feed their families off of their etsy income and taking it away would cause massive disruption in someones REAL life.

I think you should just stick to your own business and make sure you are doing okay and stop worrying about trying to take other people down.

I haven't had energy or time to do stuff like this - I just focus more on my own sales. If it gives you a thrill, good luck :)

If somebody is using my photos (which many have in the past) I always report them and let them know I have reported them by sending a message asking them why they are being so lazy.

I spend a lot of time taking photos in good lighting etc and even watermark them and people have the nerve to sometimes LEAVE the watermark on or crop it when using them in their listings. It's usually new or occasional sellers too. Not established ones.

Anyone that spends time in negative and destructive behaviour like this will never become a great person. You spend more time taking people down than improving yourself.

If someone is stealing from you then obviously you need to do something to stop it.

But actively attacking others?

If they are infringing on your trademark or patent, more power to you. If not, then worry about yourself, and focus on your own business. More times than not it will come back and bite you in the ass.

Yeah, I didn’t read everything but if your taking time to report other listings (which anyone can) instead of focusing on yourself .....

Successful people focus on themselves, losers focus on others. If you need to report others to get ahead, you already lost.

Well we were banned from Etsy because out competitor turned us in for copyright. He was actually dumb enough to tell us. He had a good laugh until we turned him in to all the companies he was infringing and 2 months later he was gone as well.

It is not very hard to get a hack reporter removed. But it is also very easy for them to make more accounts to report. It is a very bad path to start down.

SO IT WAS YOU!!!! I lost a $2.2MM Amazon account from a similar situation. The competitors ganged together and said I was infringing on their IP. Was a bit of a battle. I had my ducks in a row but being a young dumb skater kid in his early 20s I missed a few things and now I have no job and no life. But boy I have stories to tell....

Someone sent a eb messaged saying my item was ⊗⊗⊗⊗. Two weeks later eb took it down "Your listing was removed: Counterfeit item policy". The item in question was purchased legitimately.

Will taking the competition down make your business become more successful ?
