Does this Etsy Seller seem suspicious to you?
 

I purchased a few items for myself from an Etsy seller. The customized item they are selling is the same price or less than the item in retail stores. This alone seems suspicious to me, however they have "400+ sales", but most of their pictures are photos from other websites/sellers that sell item at a higher price. Their feedback comes from listings that are no longer active, and none for the item i purchased even though they have at least 80+ listed.

Idk if i should receive refund or wait it out. What do you think?

why not ask them?

I highly doubt asking a suspicious seller questions about their legitimacy would lead to a honest answer. Now let's say they happen to be legit, the seller might be offended by my suspicion.

A seller cannot phake 400+ sales, and still be standing.... I HOPE, but using other sellers photos, and feedback coming from inactive listings, and none for the items i purchased when those are your main items seem suspicious to me.

some sellers will tell you why they sell for less,-selling at same or less than other retailers is nothing new,traditional retail markup is 100% ,so it is not too difficult to sell for less than retail.

Yea if you ask they are for sure not gonna be honest with you. Haha I mean I have found photos that I took on my old əbay listings appear on ët$y so it is no surprise you are seeing this. As for the inactive items they could have been removed by marketplace support but who knows.

More suspicious behavior from this seller. They have now marked the item as "shipped" but without tracking, and they are in the USA.

So, my gut feeling was correct. The seller closed the store, and is no longer available. I placed 2 orders with this seller, but can only open up a case for 1 item, even though I placed both orders on same date.

Anyone know how to resolve this issue?

Your best bet is to contact Etsy Support.

it been how long since you bought that item ? you should give a little more time due to covid it still delays

I'm pretty good at spotting scams. It's just that I did not analyze the store before purchasing so I couldn't cancel until I had proof for etsy support. Long story short I ended up receiving a refund.

The store is no longer active nor similar ones in their operation. They closed their stores after receiving funds. Somehow they found out how to get 200 to 1000 false sales in order to trick people into thinking they were legitimate.

What type of items were they selling?
