Etsy shop permanently banned after 8 years of selling... Help!
Hello all, I'm new to the site but have been researching how I can open a new/stealth etsy account. Etsy was my main source of income for 8 years, I'm currently a full-time college student, single mom and work part-time as a reading specialist... but I'm drowning in student debt, my bank account has been overdrawn for over a week now.
I have made my own shopify, ebay and even amazon handmade accounts to sell my products on but I don't get nearly as much traffic as I did on etsy, even in all 3 platforms combined.
My etsy shop was suspended in March of 2020, I had a lot going on, but unemployment was really helping to keep me afloat at the time. Anyway, my brother was kind enough to make a new account for me using all his infor (bank account, ssn, email address, etc). He lives on his own so the ip address/service provider is different too.
However, I have not posted any items for sale yet, I haven't even logged into the account myself. I really want to be able to access the account from my laptop/home. I already started the process of changing internet providers and the new router just got here. My question is, do I need a new laptop or is it safe to create a new user account on my current pc?
Also, I have read a lot about etsy "indexing listings" but don't quite understand what that's all about. Do I have to use different product images or can I use the same images I've used in the past? Can I post the same products I was selling before?
And how would this work in terms of filing taxes and reporting income since everything it under his name?

I'm sure the Etsy experts here will respond soon.
I also encourage you to look at eBay, facebook marketplace, Mercari just to diversify and get some things going while you deal with your etsy account.
Mercari would be the easiest and quickest to start selling. |

She is selling on those venues you mentioned,it is just they are not as good as Etsy where she sold the most.
Mercari is not as easy as before and its fees are just as high as the other venues,try Bonanza,it is free. |

1099k will go to the person whose SSN is registered with Etsy ,if you opt for physical copy,it will be mailed to the address provided,one copy of 1099K will be sent to IRS and added to his account.
you and your brother should talk to an accountant.
If you open a new etsy account under his name,you would need new pictures,do not use the old pictures which have been used with your old Etsy account
someone may come along and tell you if you need a new laptop or new account on old laptop |

If you don't have good knowledge on computer, for safety, better not use previous computer.
And better not use previous images , Rephoto your products better use different background. |

Yeah totally agree. Getting 1 sale on bonanza per week is already an achievement for me. While Etsy and eBay is completely different story. Of course depends on your items, but for me its not worth the hassle to manage multiple small platforms for such a low reward |

| Also erase all the exif info before uploading to etsy. You can do it yourself most times easily but there are free websites where you upload your pic and they wipe it clean in 5 seconds. |
