Does anyone know if ETSY can track UK VAT numbers when you create a new account?

What do you mean by track? Do you mean I’d you use the same vat number over and over?

Not over and over.

I wasn’t VAT registered when my account got suspended a few years ago. Now my business is VAT registered I know that I will have to enter the VAT number which anyone can look up on Companies House. Do their systems search/trace/track these in the same way that they search IP addresses?

Or will I be okay as the number wasn’t previously entered even though it is the same business details on companies house as the account that was suspended a few years back?

Also - just out of interest how long do they retain suspension details? As I mentioned it was 4 ish years ago when the previous account got suspended

A manual review, yes. But bots I doubt it.

I doubt they would to be honest

Maybe if you get limited and they look into it manually? Even then though I dont think they would often do that

They can tell the validity of the VAT number which is easy. If it was used before its an easy link between 2 accounts.

It’s a great question about VAT numbers and account suspensions. While Etsy can verify VAT numbers, its automatically link your new VAT registration to your previous suspended account unless they manually review it. As for how long Etsy keeps suspension details, it varies, but they retain that info for a few years. https://vatcalc.onl

I’m curious, has anyone had a similar experience with account reinstatement after VAT registration or how it affected their listings?
