Etsy Advice Needed | Was SO Close To Opening Shop
 

Hi all. I'm a USA seller who was suspended after I used the word "cigar" in my Etsy title. Lost my appeal. I've studied and learned about stealth methods over the past 3 months and I finally went for it. It was 50% of my income, so you can imagine how eager I was to get back up and running.

I warmed up my proxy for a week, created an Etsy buyer account - browsed and favorited, etc. for a few days.

Everything went well and I was able to get past the entire set up using a slightly incorrect name, a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ address, etc. Then they needed my tax information and that's where everything went wrong. I was told by an "Etsy guru" to change all of my info back at this point and that it had worked many times for him b/c the shop was already approved.

I had a new bank acct, phone number, credit card, etc. but again, I changed my name back to it's correct form and was banned. How can I get around this when they need my information for taxes? So frustrated. It seems EU sellers can get around these details but not USA sellers.

I would LOVE to hear about USA sellers who have successfully bypassed this issue and have an account up and running. Feel free to private message me as well.

Since Etsy has some pretty strict rules on real owner id and name, you may have to run it as a friend or family members name with their ssn. I have about five shops all in my real name but I suspect once you are banned your real name is no longer usable. It could be the trigger was changing the account info or it was your real info that pushed it over the top.....

Then she has to link a bank account with the same name as the friend or family member.
And they will be getting a 1099K and report the sales $$ in their tax return

I can tell you that even in Europe they have the opportunity to check, through third-party partners, whether the data relating to tax codes and personal details are valid and consistent.
If this does not happen the account will be banned.

Yes,the name of the etsy account should be the same as the name on bank account and the social security number.
ETSY just reported earnings and its stock is tanking and being downgraded by Wall Street,there is hardly any sales in many Etsy shops,save your 20 cents

I was selling a home made trucker hat of an image of a cigar. Nothing to do with a real cigar. Was a horrible reason to be banned. :(

It was 50% of my income. I'm distraught. I sell on Ebay as well but the fear of being shut down there is looming as well. I'm dying to get my Etsy account back!

I was making a lot of money (for me) through Etsy. About 4K profit a month. I'm distraught! I know it's not a lot to other people but it covered daycare costs for my two young children so it's a huge hit.

Exactly. Which is why I'm very leery to use a family members SSN, nor do I think they'd be okay with that. Too messy with tax brackets & owing taxes etc.

There are so many guys on Twitter who are claiming it's very possible to open a stealth Etsy account in the US, they just want to charge $250 for the knowledge. They do back it up with their numbers but nobody wants to give out information for free.

Do you think they can also check your date of birth? whether to identify only the name and surname with the tax number, we are talking about the EU

It doesn't matter, etsy team is a bunch of idiots & they've outsourced a lot to AI / automated responses.

I'm sure a big part of that is them banning a lot of shops / cracking down on retail arbitrage hard. Oh and the fact that if your shop is suspended or banned, if a buyer opens a case, they just auto refund them lmaooooooooooooo
