Account location and customers location
 

Hi all,

I've a problem. I'm selling digital items on Etsy and My account is based in europe and most of my customers are from european countries like Spain italy and mostly from Germany. But, the majority of Etsy visitors are from the US, so why am i facing this issue?

what issue are you facing??

IF YOU SET your shop to USA,would your listings all be priced in US $??
WHAT about your home address and ship from address and bank account?
Would the bank account be a US bank account?
You just confuse your buyers and Etsy.
Etsy would collect your US $ AND deposit in your US bank account,if it allows you to enter a non US bank account,it would have to convert to another currency?
why dont you try and see what happens?
and how do you set shipping -is it digital then no shipping needed.

OP is asking about Etsy,not Ebay

I think she wants US visibility,and stating that hers is a US shop will drawn US customers.
With Ebay ,you can just go to ebay Germany,Ebay SWitzerland,Ebay Canada and start listing,but with Germany and Switzerland,you have to list in German.

But with Etsy,I am not sure if there is an ETSY Germany,ETSY France,I think it is just one big website called Etsy.

Do you attract customers based on the location of your account? Is this common for all Etsy sellers? In ebay, it varies depending on the subdomain and item location

I target US customers

You from US may not have this issue

Sorry not really understanding the problem here.

You want EU sellers or US sellers? If its a digital item surely it doesnt matter too much where they are from?

If you want US customers, you should aim for US-based location - helps for location purposes

I'm an EU seller but I target US customers, and as I see they aren't effectively targeted

I meant the majority of Etsy platform not my shop visitors are from the US

Yes...majority of etsy platform is likely US ppl - and you want these ppl right?

Egay used to have an option to have your listing displayed on their overseas sites like eBay.co.uk, etc for an additional fee. I have not seen this recently but is this available to you?

Your shop is based in EU right? So it's normal you get EU clients.

I'm not sure if setting my shop location to the USA is a good idea or if it could just cause problems with my account. I'm hoping someone who has experience with Etsy can provide me with advice.

I find whatever location attract worwlide customers the same way but maybe depends also the items you sell , I think USA customers buy many items in Euro accounts too
